Week 4

In this weeks class we are exploring the functions and capabilities of digital camera's... and thank god, as i have been wondering what all those options in the menu were for...

Further developing my folio of the city of melbourne, i have played around with some more of the functions on photoshop and had a great time with a free image i found from flicker which is a Creative common.
This picture, whilst being so plain, is also perfect for what i needed it for, and that I have morphed it from its "Sleeping" state, and brought it to life!!
With the below image titled "City of Life"

Also whilst using the "Liquify" feature on photoshop, i was inspired to replicate a "Scream" (Edvard Munch) and Salvadore Dali style of image where some key features of FLINDERS STREET STATION were "melted" in a heatwave... the image was tricky to finalize, as i wanted it to appear as the peaks melted, whilst the rest of the structure remained in tact, so a lot of clicking, moving, setting was required to get to the final piece which i have named "Heatwave"... Enjoy..

ART PROPOSAL

“Melbomorphesis” – By Alec Baroni (3775421)

Showing the City in the wacky way that local residents should… No more racial, social, controversial Pollution!

Key ideas and Themes for artwork:

The morphing and altering of images has always been a passion of mine, and I love to see the world through a “zaney” sense. The city has many features which I have always loved, and I want to show people those in a way that will capture the viewers attention and influence them.

Influences:

My influences in the making of my folio, are works like the scream, and Salvatore Dali’s melting clocks, whilst combined with the beautiful cityscape, and niche treasures that can be found in the city, were in my eyes, just begging to be “exploited” for what they really are. I love the surreal artworks, and wish that the world was more “Surreal”, so with the use of various computer tools I will create my “Ideal world”.

Key themes/messages to be conveyed:

The city of Melbourne has been quite a controversial topic of late, and the words thrown around the media indicate the newly adopted term of social pollution, and the race wars, which are happening in the “back alleys and laneways”. The problem that I see is that people are forgetting the cities beauty and not seeing it the way it should be seen. I venture to show the city in its key points through a series of images showing the Cities beautiful features in a retro/warped way.

Format to be presented:

The final folio will be presented in a slide show, comprising of the set of images which will be “created” over the current semester (10 weeks)

Applications and techniques that will be used:

The applications and techniques I will use will follow the class topics, on text, Illustrator, Photoshop and Photography. The images that I use will be a mixture of creative commons, and my own personal photographs.

Please enjoy and i'll look forward to more blogging next week!!!!
